The Air Force Historical Research AgencyThe Air Force Historical Research Agency is the repository for Air Force historical documents. The Agency's collection, begun in Washington, DC, during World War II, moved in 1949 to Maxwell Air Force Base, the site of Air University, to provide research facilities for professional military education students, the faculty, visiting scholars, and the general public. It consists today of over 70,000,000 pages devoted to the history of the service, and represents the world's largest and most valuable organized collection of documents on US military aviation.
The Agency shares Building 1405 with the Air University Library, located in the middle of Chennault Circle at Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama.

United States Air Force History Support OfficeThe Air Force History Support Office (AFHSO) at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C. is responsible for writing books, monographs, studies, and reports to preserve the history of the U.S. Air Force. The AFHSO also provides historical information, analysis, and perspective to Air Force leaders and their staffs to support planning, policy development, and decision making. In conjunction with the Air Force Historical Research Agency (AFHRA) at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, which is the primary repository of historical information, the Support Office responds to requests for information from private organizations, government agencies, and the general public.
U.S. Army Military History InstituteThe United States Army Military History Institute, is a department of the U.S. Army War College, and is the U.S. Army's central repository for historical materials. It has a mission to collect, preserve, and make available to researchers source materials on Military History, especially American military history.
